The next stage is to provide copies for your spouse. They will need to receive the Petition, Statement of Arrangements, Notice of Proceeding, Acknowledgment of Service and Notice of Public Funding.

Depending on your spouses response to being served the divorce forms your divorce could take one of two paths. If you and your spouse are in agreement of the conditions of the divorce you can send an Affidavit to the Court swearing the accuracy of the Petition. Alternatively, the spouse will need to file a separate answer with their wishes for the final hearing. The court will consider each issue separately and the District Judge will decide if you are entitled to a Decree Absolute, to terminate your marriage. The whole process can last up to five months.
